1970 Yves Saint Laurent Black Multicolored Silk Floral Peasant Dress
Feminine, fun, and a little flirty, this 1970s peasant dress superbly captures the stylish, vintage mystique of the decade. Saint Laurent’s appeal for art made vivid colors and prints strike across his designs in unconventional ways that draw the eye. This wrap-style dress, done in a black silk, is covered with a soft floral motif done in a modified secondary triad color scheme.
Goldenrod and iris colored flowers play off of the leaf-greens which are all accented by unexpected azure tones. Using the same color in an open plaid, ruffle details outline the garment as the beautifully draped collar flutters down centre front in a jabot style it flows all the way to the knee and then circles the hem. The V-neckline and the inverted V-hem balance each other perfectly. This ruffling is repeated at the sleeve cuff. The dress come with the matching sash to support the wrap-style and for a more defined waist.
