Basha Gold
1970s Yves Saint Laurent Multicolored Leather Velvet Tassel Bag
Notably involved in several art scenes internationally, at times, these influences from different movements can be seen in Saint Laurent work. In this 1970s multi-color crossbody, the color combination is in line with the rich hues of pop art style. Panels of violet, turquoise, yellow, red-orange, white and black velvet form this bag. Black leather piping accents the edges ending at the leather top which is laced with a braided coral cord to form the drawstring closure.
If the colors did not evoke a playful enough mood, tassels are also repeated with this bag to add another degree of levity. Done in leather of similar colors to the velvet panels, the tassels circle the bag hanging free to swing as the wearer moves. Fun and carefree, this bag adds a colorful relief to an otherwise buttoned-up outfit and can be work as a crossbody or as a regular shoulder bag.
