2012 Rodarte Van Gogh Multicolored Metallic Embroidered Tulle Dress
In 1889, Vincent Van Gogh painted quite possibly his most famous masterpieces, Starry Night. With dull colors enriched by their contrast to lighter ones and swirling, short brush strokes producing a wave of rolling colors, Rodarte animates the ease of Van Gogh’s work.
With an oblong scoop neck that emulates the metallic swirling embroidery of honey apricot, topaz blue, and leaf green, Rodarte mimics the lines found in Van Gogh’s famous painting. Embroidered on a soft purple tulle mesh, the spiraling and squiggle motif floats and undulates against the body.
At the bust, this midi dress is fit with an angular princess line that alludes to the architecture in Van Gogh’s landscape. Straighter about the bust with a defined waist, the dress falls softly into an A-line skirt. Areas of dense metallic embroidery provide contrast and produce a heavier gleam against the light that enrich the different colors throughout.
