Rodarte Runway Beaded Metal Net Sea Foam Lame Swarovski Crystals Dress, 2015
Frequently inspired by the ebbs and tides of nature, Rodarte merges quality materials and techniques into creations that reflect a natural rawness. The Spring 2015 collection drew inspiration from aquatic themes crafting allusions to waves, tendrils, nets, and undersea plant life, shaping them into gowns that gave an eerily soothing mood. This dress is not only beautifully designed but was a Moda Operandi exclusive originally retailing for $11,270.
Featuring a variety of textures envelops a sea foam lame organza, a soft mermaid-like glimmer is created. On either side, a hand-crocheted metal net—one of white and gold the other of black—embellished with Swarovski crystals drape in conversation with the iridescence of the undulating organza that sweeps dynamically across the body in an epic tale.
Beginning from the waist, the dress bubbles up into a sheer neckline swirling and rolling with clusters of tiny white beads reminiscent of a lush foam. The asymmetry of the main dress fabric implies motion, reaching towards a delicate crescendo of a wave. An asymmetric, rounded hem solidifies the look. Metal net and organza tentacles hang from the hip as low as the ankle creating a breezy motion when the wearer walks. Crashing waves, sirens, and a beautifully treacherous scenery, this Rodarte dress is a wearable odyssey that is waiting to be experienced.
