Temperley London Pastel Pink Sequin Satin Cut Out Back Gown, Resort 2017
After British socialite Alice Temperley married her sweetheart in a Twenties-inspired gown she made, requests from her fabulous friends began pouring in. In 2006, she set up shop and counts Kate Bosworth, Beyonce, Emma Watson, Poppy Delevingne, Pippa Middleton, and Kate Middleton among her clientele. Sought after for her whimsical and feminine eveningwear, Temperley continued to expand her brand with a third line, Temperley Bridal, and was awarded an MBE in 2011.
A fine example of her work, this beautiful gown is elegant and glamorous at once. Done in a slightly stretchy fabric that is hand-embroidered with pastel pink sequins, this maxi-length beauty shimmers throughout, accentuating the natural lines of the body. The sleeveless dress begins with a deep V neckline and an overlay piece that creates the illusion of fluttering angel sleeves. A large inverted tear-shaped keyhole at the back of the bodice extends to the waist for added drama, framed by ruffles from the overlay piece on each side.

The skirt falls from an empire waist to a maxi length at the ankles in a dainty flared hem, giving this dress a mermaid-like feel. A thigh-high slit at the center front of the skirt brings yet another risqué element to the dress, while a gorgeous inverted pleat at the back of the skirt brings fullness and movement to the otherwise fitted silhouette of the gown. A dreamy addition to the discerning fashion lover’s wardrobe, this dress is the perfect choice for a cocktail party, wedding, or special occasion.
In excellent condition, this Temperley gown is partially lined and closes with a concealed hook and zip fastening at the back. Hand-finished with sequins throughout, this dress is mid-weight with a generous stretch to the fabric. The main tag is missing, but an inside label with the brand identification is still present. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
