Basha Gold
Givenchy Magenta Eel Skin Leather Fringe Shoulder Bag, 2009
For decades, the house of Givenchy captured its luxury status through simple and traditional designs. This classic style began to evolve slowly over the decades to be more daring, while still staying true to the house’s clean, overall aesthetic. In 2005, Italian designer, Riccardo Tisci, took over as the creative director of the house that brought a refreshing, bold, and contemporary look to Givenchy.
From the fall 2009 ready to wear, this shoulder bag is made from a striking magenta eel leather. The shape of the bag has a somewhat aboriginal aesthetic with the rectangular compartment of the bag framed by the arch of the handle. Accenting the bag, mulberry strips of leather balances the intense magenta color while the fringe detail plays with the bag’s proportions. The seamed leather on the body of the bag in combination with the wrapping and lacing of the leather strips allows for an interesting combination of a smooth gloss appearance and a textured hand.
Measurements:

The bag closes with a magnetic snap while the interior of the bag is lined in canvas with one interior wall pocket. In excellent condition, this bag still has the original Barney’s New York tags on the inside. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
