Every woman was Yves Saint Laurent’s customer. By designing timeless and easily wearable styles, Saint Laurent was able to capture audiences from all different walks of life through his couture and Rive Gauche lines. Likely from his 1991 Autumn/Winter collection, this silk chiffon wrap dress dons an inky black color interspersed with a leopard print. Several iterations of this style with a matching print can be seen from the runway.
It has a relaxed fit throughout the bodice with a semi-fitted waistline. The plunging V neck is echoed in the cut of the hemline of the slightly pegged skirt. Adding to the drama of this otherwise delicate piece, full bishop sleeves contrast the fitted and angular features of this design. Because the dress is sheer, it would work well as a cover up or as a jacket to accent a sleek, classic ensemble or easily create a day-to-night look.

At the waist, the dress closes with a hook and eye and an offset button and loop closure. (The waist could easily be made an inch or two larger by moving the button). The sleeves are fitted at the wrist with elastic. In excellent condition, it has been professionally cleaned and pressed.
