Chloé Karl Lagerfeld Red White Printed Silk Dress Runway 1982
The late Karl Lagerfeld is one of the most recognizable designers and fashion creatives of the 21st century. Having been the creative lead for multiple couture houses, Lagerfeld added a touch of colorful bravado to the aesthetic of the usually soft styles at Chloé. From the Spring Summer 1982 collection this dress is done in a vivid printed silk organza in shades of red orange and ivory.
The design of the pattern creates an almost scaled look that pairs beautifully with the layered ruffled collar around the squared neckline that creates the illusion of sleeves. From the ruffles at the top the dress cinches in at the waist and falls into a voluminous gathered, tiered skirt. A beautiful reinterpretation of the robe de style, the layered organza is beautifully finished with a neat peal edge making this dress a classic vintage look that can stand the test of time. It can be seen on the 1982 runway below in a photo by Paul van Riel.
