Courrèges Numbered Couture Creme Orange Mod a Line Dress, 1960s

$1,500

André Courrèges is one of the most iconic designers of the 1960s. He and others such as Pierre Cardin built an era of fashion that defined the generation and aesthetic of space-ageism. A hallmark of Courrèges’ designs were his use of color blocking and primary colors alongside the 1960’s staple pinafore silhouette.

Done in the classic Courrèges wool, this dress is structured yet light weight with a slightly ribbed texture. The bodice of the dress is done is a shocking orange while the skirt, sleeves, and yoke are in an off-white color. The bodice is pieced and fitted through curved side panel seams that mimic the curvature of the neckline. Two welt pockets in the contrasting white are placed right above the waist.

The four-panel skirt extends to the knee in an A-line creating an angular yet beautiful hourglass figure. Finished at centre front with the AC logo, this dress is a stunning vintage dress that is vibrant and quirkily charming.
