Givenchy Blue Silk Organza Floral Print Dress, 1970s

$0

Hubert de Givenchy is one of the most acclaimed Parisian design houses. Known for his feminine, elegant, and classic styles, Givenchy is noted for his vast work for actress, Audrey Hepburn having been awarded Oscars for his costume work.

This circa 1970s Givenchy dress is made in a fine midnight blue silk organza. A floral print of jungle green, blue violet, and poppy red bring a soft color scheme through the otherwise bold tones. Ruffles border the V-neckline and trace down centre front to the gathered waist. From there the yoked skirt begins falling to a modest length just below the knee.

The sleeves mimic the volume shifts that occur throughout the body of the dress. An elbow length puff sleeve with a barrel cuff completes the look. The sheer quality of the fabric allows it to catch light beautifully to create a stained-glass effect by way of the rich colors and shapes of the dress.
