Issey Miyake “A Piece of Cloth” 2-Way White Gray Sleeveless Sculptural Dress

$1,100
Issey Miyake is one of the world’s most renowned avant-garde designers. His approach to design is unique. Unlike most designers who embark from arbitrary design inspiration season after season, Miyake carefully creates conceptual genres generally based in elements of architecture or textile science that he merges and tweaks over the years.

As a cross between his A Piece of Cloth project and iconic Pleats style, this Miyake dress is presumable from the mid-to-late 2000s. A sleeveless and rounded V-neckline starts this dress in a stylishly simplistic way. The vertical pleats travel down the body giving a soft texture and illusion of height.

At about thigh level, the optic white of the upper portion of the dress feathers into a charcoal section that allows this dress to be worn 2 ways: Worn down, the charcoal section adds a lampshade silhouette that transitions back to white and ends just below the knee. On either side, buttons are places that allow the lower portion of the dress to be fastened up, shortening the dress and creating a sculptural tray that gives a peek of the charcoal section. Artistic and expertly engineered, this dress offers two styles that is equally comfortable and captivating.
