Mac Tac of Paris Jersey Print Maxi Dress, 1970s

$0

In collaboration with the renowned Paris house of prints, Leonard, the graphic and print designer Mac Tac offered this zany almost surrealist print for this 1970s silky nylon jersey maxi dress. This dress combines a buff and black zebra stripe motif that has been stitched in various areas to make an optical illusion throughout. Slight gathers under the bust slightly draw the eye as it adds more dimension to the optical print.

On the skirt portion flowing from a basque waist a floral motif of poppies, and a spray of other warm orange-toned florals are framed down centre front on a soft sand ground that is also mirrored on the back. The plunging neckline and the waist detail garner a geometric path that entice the eye to follow across the dress down to the center piece of the skirt. From the waist, a tie is affixed that allows the waist to be further defined.
