Prada Fairy Runway Gold Leather Dress, 2008

Italian luxury brand Prada has made a mark with their refined styles and classic reinventions. However, the namesake designer Miuccia Prada is no stranger to considering creative twists. Stating that this collection was all about working from a “new inspiration”, Prada unlocks a mystical wonderland in her Spring 2008 Fairy Collection by employing curvilinear lines, delicate details, and fantastical yet demure tonal colors.

Made in an exuberant supple gold leather, this metallic dress is somewhat of an exception piece to the whimsy of the collection. The leather is bold but is softened by the usage of curved edges in the neck and the high sleeves as well as by introducing small details that provide the leather with rounded volume such as the tuck clusters that fit the dress under the bust in addition to the gathering of the skirt at the waist and the pleating near the full sweep hem.
