Scaasi Coral Orange Dotted Silk Print Bow Dress, 1990s

$0

Canadian born designer Arnold Scaasi boasts an impressive resume of design clientele and experience. Having studied at the famous Chambre Syndicale in Paris and having worked for American couturier Charles James, Scaasi became a coveted and exclusive designer in the 1960s. His designs are highly versatile but often evoke an air of warmth and playfulness to them.

From the 1990s, this dress is made in a scarlet melon silk with satin polka dots that give the fabric a sequin-like sheen. Printed on the fabric are off-white rings that bubble up across the dress. On the front, three fabric details create ties that chevron up towards the bust that add a textural and tropical vibe. The ties resemble bows thus adding a more youthful look.

These details also accentuate the figure by making the bust, waist, and hips appear smaller and well-proportioned as it flares into a moderate A-line. Lightly padded cap sleeves that sit right on the shoulder ridge give this dress a perfectly balanced hourglass silhouette. With a vivid color and a 1960s mood, this dress offers a range of uses from brunch to a trendy day-dress, or cocktail wear.
