Yves Saint Laurent Multicolored Silk Stars Print Dress YSL, 1970s
YSL’s acclaimed Rive Gauche line was a revolutionary step in redefining high-end fashion since its start in the late 60s. Even though Yves Saint Laurent has long-since been known for pushing the boundaries of design, the introduction of this line was a vanguard for ready-to-wear design gaining more acclaim and made it possible for more playful styles to be seen in high regard.
From the late 1970s, this shirt dress is made from a light-weight white silk with a colorful star print exploding throughout. Bright tones of yellow-orange, red, seafoam green, and violet create a dazzling motif. A thin standing collar with a tie starts this design and slopes into puffed short sleeves.
The cuffs end around waist level with a series of pin-tucks that are replicated around the body of the dress fitting it at the waist. This vintage detail allows both for fit and a subtle texture to the dress. Ending just at the knee, this shirt dress is both a dainty and bold daywear option that can easily be worn alone or paired with a stylish belt.
