Yves Saint Laurent White Black Ostrich Feather Coat YSL Rare Documented 1960s
A true no-holds-barred designer, YSL markedly input a high degree of personality and flamboyance in his couture and Rive Gauche designs revolutionizing the norm for fashion in the late 1900s. Harnessing exotic materials, YSL redefined expressive dress as seen in this mid-1960s ostrich feather coat.
Cloaking the wearer in wispy black and white ostrich plumes, this coat rounds the shoulders and falls to knee length giving the wearer a larger-than-life silhouette. A collectors’ piece and an excellent vintage addition for a retro evening or cocktail event, this coat was featured in Fashion Museum in Bath and can be seen on ballerina Margot Fonteyn alongside YSL himself in the July 1965 Harper’s Bazaar. This coat was later revived for the couture line in 1983.
