Bob Mackie Ray Aghayan Peach Chiffon Layered Dress Cape Shawl
Bob Mackie quickly rose to success after being discovered by costuming icon Edith Head while working as a sketch artist. Mackie has dressed many a Hollywood starlet both on and off the screen that everyone is certain to have seen one of Mackie’s ostentatious designs and his work continues to be in demand today. Done in collaboration with his partner and fellow designer, Ray Aghayan, this 1970s dress is made from a delicate peach and tan chiffon.
The top begins simply with a scoop neck and then transforms into a layered handkerchief skirt which offers beautiful, fluid movement. Additionally, this dress comes with a matching shawl that allows you to customize this dress yourself. The shawl attaches at the shoulders with buttons and loops and has cuffs on either side.
This cape can allow for a more dramatic, Grecian goddess silhouette, if styled to the back, and a more conservative look if draped over the front (see images 13 & 14 images for the shawl / overlay styled over the front of the dress.) While the cuffs have hook closures to be places at the wrist, you can tie them at any point on your arm for even more styling options.
