Vintage Karl Lagerfeld Black Mock Neck Sheer Panel Net Evening Dress, 1980s

$0

The late Karl Lagerfeld is undoubtedly one of the most renown fashion designers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Having served as creative director of multiple fashion houses simultaneously—most notably Chanel—Lagerfeld’s success lies in the reimagining of the known versus revolutionizing trends. From his own line, and quite possibly a take on the little black dress, this mid-to-late 80s Karl Lagerfeld dress is done in a silky rayon crepe accented by net panels throughout.

The dress boasts a slimming, hourglass silhouette with a mild hint at Yuppie styles as the bodice has two curved crepe sections separated by a channel of net that goes up to form a mock-neck collar. The skirt traces the curves of the wearer to an ankle length high-low hemline with four rounded net godets. A net and rayon fitted sleeve that flares out into a trumpet-shaped split cuff mirrors the softer flare of the hem.
