Hubert de Givenchy Haute Couture Coat Tiger Print Coat, Vogue Documented 1969

$0

Givenchy was a master of combining texture and fabrics in order to create a number of lavish designs throughout his career. This penchant and interest in animals inspired what Vogue has called one of his most memorable designs. This jacket is done in wool with a unique tiger stripe print. A sepia-orange and umber form the icon color scheme while also creating visual interest to the garment.

Impeccably tailored, the coat offers a crisp high collar and front pockets that are perfectly set into the darts. Additionally, raglan sleeves appear which is quite atypical for this coat style. The coat has a highly defined waist and is fitted throughout the hip where it transitions into a soft flounce that falls just below the knee. Representative of the time and a daring look today, this coat can also be seen in editorial spreads from 1969 Vogue.

Size estimate: Medium

Sleeves: about 23 inches
