Vintage Issey Miayke Silver, Pink & Pearl Layered Top Skirt Set
Futuristic Japanese designer Issey Miyake is a master of form and fabric, known for creating beautiful sculptural garments that pay homage to the past while bringing us somewhere new and enchanting. Special attention to the fabrics and materials used allow Miyake to create spectacular garments that rely upon unique volumes and textures.
Done in three layers, this Avant-Garde top and skirt set is Issey Miyake at his finest. Presenting an interesting juxtaposition of texture and color, this set is dainty and playful at once. A see-through pleated plastic look outer layer reveals a layer of grey fabric featuring a windowpane pattern, which rests on top of a pleated layer of shiny magenta fabric. The layer of grey fabric is shorter than the others on both the skirt and top, creating a pleasing color block effect throughout.

The low-cut, ruffled neckline is framed by two slender plastic straps, giving this set a sculptural feel, as if the top is molded to the wearer. The iridescent, pearl-colored outer layer adds a crinkly texture throughout that draws the eye while the pleated magenta fabric at the bottom of the top adds a beautiful and much-needed pop of color.
The skirt falls to a maxi length at the ankles, featuring thigh-high slits at either side which reveal more of the pleated magenta fabric underneath. The iridescent and grey layers taper off towards the bottom of the skirt, creating an optical illusion that allows both a fitted and full silhouette to be seen at once.
In excellent condition, this Issey Miyake top and skirt set is lined with black pleated fabric and has been professionally eco dry cleaned and pressed. The skirt has two side pockets and button closures at the waistband and the top has a concealed side zip closure.
