1960s Golden Yellow Silk Silver Floral Brocade Chinese Jacket

$0

Chinese garments have historically been made with silk and fantastically woven textiles known as brocades that features traditional imagery and motifs, especially florals. Bold colors often set the ground for brocades. Because of all of these creative and quality textile techniques often found in Chinese garments, influences have consistently been adopted by western designers and markets in their fashions throughout the decades that greatly inspired hosting attire in the 1960s.

This circa 1960s brocade jacket is done in a vibrant imperial yellow silk and has a white and green lotus flower motif woven throughout. The jacket is designed in a kimono-esque style with dropped kimono sleeves that ends at three-quarter level and a banded neck edge that rises slightly in the back.

Due to the density of brocade weaves, the fabric drapes pleasantly over the body creating a light moderate degree of volume allowing for a comfortable, open fit. Spectacular in color and easy to wear, this Chinese inspired garment can be worn either as a jacket to bring together an ensemble or on its own as an oversized shirt style as the length only falls to thigh level.
