Bill Blass Couture Ostrich Feather Rainbow Bolero Jacket, 1970s
American designer Bill Blass is acclaimed for his tailored women’s styles. He, alongside a few others, was one of the designers to codify the “American” look that incorporated modernist vision and a maintenance of feminine flair. From his 1977 collection, this Blass bolero jacket is an incredibly rare collector’s piece!
It is done with a flock of black ostrich feathers interspersed with plumes of blue, pink, orange, yellow and green. The bolero envelops the shoulders with a luxurious texture and creates a jovial volume with the flamboyant feathers jutting out across the silhouette. This Blass bolero makes for a dramatic evening upgrade being worn with a little black dress or a simple gown of virtually any color.
