Chanel Laser Cut Camellia Flower Black and White Bomber Jacket
Women’s Wear Daily called it. Bomber jackets will be around for at least another season. But you’ll be wearing Chanel’s haute take on the silhouette for many years to come. Similar to one shown in its spring 2009 collection on model Skye Stracke, it is truly an exquisite piece embodying both the craftsmanship and history that define the French fashion house.
To create the look, designer Karl Lagerfeld started with a pattern of camellias, Coco’s beloved flower. Rather than printing it, he laser-cut it into a gorgeous light-as-paper crinkled black silk-blend fabric. He then backed it with a white lining to make the effect beautifully bloom. Finally, he tailored it into the sporty and youthful coat style, with its stand-up collar and raglan sleeves.
If the double Cs throughout the camellias aren’t enough of a brand signature, gunmetal logo buttons at the front placket, vertical front pockets and banded cuffs distinctly denote its origins. Dress this bomber jacket up or down; versatile, it will pair equally well with an evening dress as it will with jeans.
