Basha Gold
Chloè Multicolored Floral Jacket, 1980s
French fashion house, Chloé, tend to incorporate immensely feminine designs with soft colors and fluid silhouettes. Since its start in the 50s, a variety of designers have led the house including Karl Lagerfeld, Phoebe Philo and Stella McCartney. Likely from the Lagerfeld era, this 1980s Chloé jacket is done from a liquid silk-satin fabric.
The base is an off-black tone and is covered with a variety of floral appliques. The simplistic, stylized flower shapes are done in playful colors including scarlet, mauve, royal blue, and leaf greens. The whimsical motif is emphasized through the organic curves in the design that is mimicked through the soft, rounded shoulder and neckline.
Falling to hip level, this supple jacket works well as a layering piece softening an ensemble and adding some quirky charm. Inspiration was taken from this jacket in Gucci’s Pre-fall 2018 collection.
