Vintage Emerald Green Ultrasuede Halston Style Cape, 1970s

$0

Rising to popularity by the works of designers such as Halston, Ultrasuede quickly enraptured the late 1900s as a lighter, more pliable alternative to suede. With an iconic texture, the fabric is often maximized by being made in rich hues as with this vintage cape circa the late 1970s possibly from the Swedish brand Collection Philip.

A vivid jewel teal green color, this cape has a slight teal tone to it. With padded, rounded shoulders, this cape envelops the wearer in a cocoon of mystical green flaring at the ankle length hem to a subtle A-line. Large slits down the side fronts act as armholes allowing for excellent functionality of this cape.

At the neck, a long tie closure doubles as a collar balancing the accentuation of the shoulder with that of the neck. When worn open, a convertible collar effect can be had that gives the feeling of an overcoat or blazer. Although very modest and simple, this cape is a dramatic ode to the dress of yesteryear that can be certainly styled with the trends of today making for an imaginative way to spice up your fall wardrobe.

Size estimate: Medium

Length: about 52 inches

In addition to the tie, this cape closes at centre front with hand sewn snaps and is fully lined in an emerald green fabric. In excellent condition, high-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
