Basha Gold
Purple Shibori Striped Silk Kimono Jacket 1970s
The Japanese kimono played many roles throughout history, serving its ceremonial and traditional reputation. The evolution of such symbolic garments opened doors for creative expression as 70’s Japanese designers boldly experimented with brighter colors and exciting prints.
Much like this 1970’s masterpiece, done in spontaneous shades of lavender, white, yellow, vibrant orange, and bits of turquoise. A lush pattern of thick horizontal stripes adorns the silk with faded swirls decorating the top section. The neckline and sleeves are outlined in purple printed with turquoise polka dots shaped like miniature diamonds.
The kimono’s short haori design allows it to be perfectly paired with anything a closet has to offer. The piece is a stunning combination of fun, comfort, and elegance with its loosely draped shape and large open sleeves.
