1920s Art Deco Silk Floral Embroidered Hand Knot Fringe Kimono Jacket
In response to the rise of mass production, the Art Deco period ushered in an appreciation for Japonisme because of the beautifully crafted objects the Eastern culture revered. This unbelievably stunning kimono was one of those objects and its pristine condition is a testament to how treasured it has been over the decades.
The luminescent black silk coat is meticulously embellished with a trio of flower vines, each being visited by an incredible butterfly that is embroidered from threads of gold, magenta, purple and green. Hand-knotted gold silk fringe at the hem and partially up the sides adds a finishing touch that makes the whole piece simply breathtaking. Rare, this is a museum-worthy find for wearing or displaying in the home.

This rare vintage kimono from the 1920s is in excellent condition. There is some minor fraying at the end of the fringe. The Art Deco coat is cut from shiny black silk. It is unlined and free of closures. It is embroidered with three panels of flowers, each featuring a butterfly, as well. The embroidery threads are multicolored, with gold, purple, magenta and green being the most prominent.
The mid-thigh-length hem is finished with hand-knotted gold fringe that reaches down to the knees. The fringe also climbs of the side panels, with its lengths matching up with the rest. This kimono has been professionally dry-cleaned and pressed. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year.
