Basha Gold
1960s Lanvin by Jules-Francois Crahay Embellished Cropped Top
This top was Designed by Jules-Francois Crahay, who headed the Lanvin ateliers from 1964-1984. Crahay designed for women in the grand couture tradition, where the lavishness of fabrics and design was practically unlimited. Done in what feels like silk crepe, this exquisite midnight blue crop top is a perfect example of Crahay’s incredible craftsmanship.
The top begins with a simple jewel neckline and long sleeves that reach the wrists, allowing the incredible couture-level beading and sequin embellishments to take center stage. The sequins are arranged in intricate, kaleidoscopic patterns of shimmering magenta, navy, green, turquoise, light blue, purple and gold, and are embellished with unique filigree-like gold beads throughout. The back of the bodice features a teardrop cutout, adding a balancing note of lightness and a welcome risqué element.
A complementary border of green sequins and gold beads at the neckline, cuffs of the sleeves and hem of the bodice ties the top together visually, framing the print. Ending at the upper ribcage, this top has more of a relaxed fit and is an opulent option for a look that needs a burst of color.
