Basha Gold

Bottega Veneta Butterfly Tassel Bag, 1970s

$1,300

Introduced to the house in the late 1970s, the butterfly quickly grew as a secondary signature to the Bottega Veneta name. Symbolizing femininity, change, and nature itself, the butterfly exudes an elegance and sophistication all on its own. Presumably from the late 70s, this bag is made from a cotton fabric printed with a lush rainforest scene. Leaves in moss green and palm cover the bag while jeweled butterflies in gold, turquoise, and carmine float throughout.

A matching red leather is piped around the center and the base and makes up the purse strap and drawstring. Tied to the strap there is a chunky gold silk tassel that showcases a carved lion’s head medallion. A tropical or safari chic style, this bag is an adventurous vintage accessory that will add some fun and excitement to an everyday look.

Measurements:

Strap drop: 30 inches

Height: 5.5 inches

Width: 7 inches

As a drawstring bag, the strap can be adjusted for comfort or styling simply by adjusting the leather knot. On the inside, the bad is lined in a bright red canvas. In excellent condition, high-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
