1970s Pauline Trigère Red Print Strapless Dress & Cape Set
Pauline Trigère a prominent figure in putting American designers on the map. Like many of the acclaimed French couturiers, she was an expert at tailoring and had an eye for interesting volumes. However true-to-form of the American aesthetic, Trigere designs are known for their relative simplicity and elegance through ease.
This gorgeous 1970s dress and cape set is a fine example of Trigere’s work. Done in an ombre red silk of exceptional quality with couture hand-finished details throughout, this set exudes a timeless sophistication. The ombre silk ranges from stripes of magenta to deep scarlet and features a dainty pattern of small blue and cream flowers and fleur de lis. The dress begins with a strapless ruched bodice that frames the decolletage while a high neck cape embellished with rhinestones creates a sheer overlay of long angel sleeves.
