Alfred Bosand Ivory beaded Bodice Silk chiffon Gown, 1970s

$1,250

Known for creating beautiful, romantic dresses, American couture designer Alfred Bosand is remembered for his exquisite attention to detail. Working from his salon on 57th street, Bosand notably designed wardrobes for 10 Miss America’s and was one of New York City’s last couture designers with a privately owned label. His custom-made designs were worn by socialites and celebrities including the likes of June Carter Cash, Mae West, and Judy Collins.

From the 1970s, this elegant gown is a fine example Bosand’s craftsmanship and eye for beauty. Done in an ivory silk chiffon embellished with hand appliqued beads and sequins, this dress is charming and sophisticated at once.

The scoop neckline and spaghetti straps are adorned with luminous silver beads, offering a nice visual contrast with the dusting of silver beads and iridescent sequins across the front and back of the bodice. The fitted waist begins beneath the bust, and is defined by a band of shimmering sequins bordered by silver beads that compliments the neckline while giving this dress a regal feel.
