Chloé Bordeaux Gabardine Belted Cape Trench Coat, 1980s

$850

The 1980s was characterized by boxy silhouettes, expressive colors, and a culture of power dressing that drastically redefined how women dressed. Amid this fast-paced fashion culture, Karl Lagerfeld drew inspiration from these aspects and successfully crafted stately and feminine designs that exuded the traditional allure of the Chloé brand whilst still keeping with the times.

This late-1980s Chloé trench coat is done in a beautiful Bordeaux waterproof gabardine. The coat has softly sloping shoulders that fall into a gently flounced cape ending at waist level. The cape features large triangular lapels that form a modest V-neckline contrasting the smooth curves of the silhouette. From the waist, the A-line skirt falls to calf level with moderate fullness at the hem.

The gentle folds and flounces of this coat highlight the luster of the fabric giving it an extra design dimension. This Chloé coat is an upscale option for outerwear or this tiered trench could also be styled a regal coat dress.

Size estimate: S-L

Measurements:

Bust: up to 40 inches

Waist: fully adjustable

Length: 49 inches

This trench coat also comes with a matching belt that can further define the waist and create contrast between the skirt and the cape. Fully lined, the coat is in very good condition with some stress marks on the fabric near the bottom folds of the cape. These marks are not visible during wear as they are hidden in the drape of the garment (please see the 6th image for close ups).
