Diane Freis Blue Floral Silk Georgette Dress, 1990s
Diane Freis began her fashion career in the early 1970s and rose to popularity by the 1980s. Her comfortable and easy-to-wear, boho designs were extremely well received by her mostly Californian clientele. Freis’ designs are praised for being light and low-maintenance, perfect for the woman on-the-go.
This circa 1992 dress is done in a vivacious printed georgette. A large floral motif of violet and crimson flowers interspersed by flourishes of green float across a royal blue ground. Beads in matching colors have been stitched on adding both dimension and texture to the fabric.
The dress begins with a plunging V-neck surplice bodice that is lightly gathered into the shirred waist. From there, the skirt drapes to a gorgeous ankle-length lettuce hem. Three-quarter puff sleeves complete this design. This Freis dress is lively and effortless that is the perfect addition to enhance a spring or summer wardrobe.
