Missoni Multicolored Floral Print Top Palazzo Pant Set, 1970s
Loud, vibrant, eclectic. All of these things clearly define Missoni’s print design aesthetic. Subdued by straight silhouettes and traditional lines, Missoni has employed an articulate sense of balance to create fashionable garments throughout the decades. Despite this, the 70s surely were a heyday for the brand.
Done in a silky rayon jersey, this 1970s palazzo pant set features a floral print with dusty red roses, seafoam leaves, and other floral motifs in carnelian and cornflower blue. With a bateau neck, the top has a soft appeal. Short sleeves form soft peaks around the arm as the blouse follows the body through the waist. Here, there is a wide waistband with a sash detail. If worn as an ensemble, the pants seamlessly flow from the top. Resting just above the hips, the pant are ever so slightly fitted through the hips quickly falling into dramatic, undulating flounces at the bottom capitalizing on the design’s appealing color combination.
