Moschino Archive Gold Chain Leather Jacket JLO Spring 2010

Moschino, the Italian fashion house, is known for their whimsical and eccentric designs. Princess Diana memorably wore a red and black houndstooth suit by Moschino on three occasions in the 90’s, which later inspired a similar look worn by Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge. With a desire to pay homage to some of Moschino’s most iconic looks, creative director Rossella Jardini reproduced a selection of original designs done to more modern proportions for Moschino’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection, made with special “Archivo Moschino” tags to mark the occasion.

From that collection, this black leather and gold chain jacket was named the ‘most coveted’ jacket that season. Made from a black leather frame and gilt chains, the jacket begins with a high round collar and long sleeves that reach a few inches above the wrist in a leather cuff. There is a band of leather at the shoulders, elbows, and around the middle of the jacket, emphasizing the natural lines of body while mirroring the leather hem of the jacket which reaches just above the waist.

The see-through nature of the gold chains adds a risqué element to the jacket, taking a classic silhouette and transforming it into something undeniably new and unexpected. Closing at the front placket with six large gold snap buttons, this jacket is a bold statement piece.
