Passementerie accessories are a staple to early YSL collections. The craftsmanship of these designs allows for an exciting way to bring together interesting color combos and provides a simple way to elevate an ensemble. This 1990s YSL belt bag is basket woven with red cording along with deep navy and evergreen felted suede strips.
On the left, the belt can be secured with a frog closure made from the red cording and 2 passementerie buttons. The bag is done in a series of the red cording hand-stitched together to form the rounded flapped pouch. Attached to the flap is a woven strap from which the bag hangs from the belt finishing with 3 tassels. The belt can be worn with or without the bag attachment making this accessory transform in both style and function.
