Nina Ricci Fall Runway Fox Fur Shawl Attached Leather Gloves, 2012

$0

Italian designer Maria “Nina” Ricci began her Parisian atelier in 1932. Known for her classically feminine designs, Ricci catapulted to wide-renown in the mid and late 1930s. After WWII her son, Roberto, was instrumental in reinvigorating public admiration of haute couture clothing in Paris. This ingenious stole, designed over 65 years later by then Creative Director Peter Copping, carries on the elegance and glamour of Nina Ricci herself.

Soft and buttery leather gloves are integrated seamlessly into the stole, fitting snugly over hands and arms with the help of a functional row of wrist buttons. The substantial fox fur stole can either be worn boldly upon the shoulders, or hang more nonchalantly at the back. The runway photo illustrates this piece’s ability to morph from something one could wear as an accessory to something that could carry the entire look. The fox, a gorgeous reddish blonde, is lined with the same supple leather that the gloves are made from. This is the rare fashion piece that looks simultaneously historic and contemporary.
