1970s Turquoise Floral Cropped Blouse Palazzo Pant Ensemble

$0

Rife with a variety of styles and cultural influences, the 1970s were filled with flamboyant and playful colors and styles. With growing social movements, two-piece ensembles became increasingly stylish for women. A bold turquoise satin creates this crop-top and palazzo pant ensemble. The floral motif rhythmically swirls about the garments as the turquoise transitions to deeper shades of teal contrasted by the marigold, periwinkle, light mauve and white flowers.

Mimicking this dancing pattern, the top plays with curvy, organic form from the wide scooped neckline on the front and back as well as the voluminous bishop sleeves. The top fits just to cover the bust leaving the midriff exposed. The pants sit at about waist level with a wide waistband. Inverted box pleats create added fullness that flows into the wide legged silhouette of the pants. The volumes and proportions of this ensemble play off of each other well by creating a conversation between the fabric and the revealed body. Worn excellently together, these styles would go exquisitely if mixed with neutral, textured pieces.
