1960s Gold & Silver Sequin Rhinestone Dress Possibly Pierre Cardin

$1,500

The designer of this dress is unknown, but that makes it no less spectacular. Possibly created by renowned Italian-French designer Pierre A. Cardin, this 1960’s dress is an incredible statement piece. Done in gold and silver sequins with prong-set crystal rhinestones, this fitted mini dress exudes a timeless 1960s glamor.

The bodice begins with short sleeves and a jewel neckline embellished with a band of silver sequins that is framed by rings of rhinestones, creating the illusion of a collar-like necklace. The concentric circles draw the eye upwards while elongating the neck, giving this dress a regal feel. Beneath the bust, another band of silver sequins bordered by rows of rhinestones mirrors the neckline while creating an empire waist that emphasizes the natural lines of the body.

The dress falls to a chic mini length several inches above the knee in a subtle, A-line silhouette, allowing the fabric to take center stage. The silver sequins overlap like fish scales and are set on the diagonal, while the gold sequins are set in undulating columns, giving the fabric a unique visual movement and rhythm of its own. A special addition to the discerning fashion lover’s wardrobe, this dress is the perfect choice for a wedding, cocktail party, or special occasion.

This vintage 1960s dress is fully lined and closes with a concealed metal zip. The boutique I. Magnin label is present, but the designer label has fallen out. Pierre. A Cardin designed several similar dresses in the 1960s with lurex and other metallic elements, as can be seen in the featured images. In very good condition with some discoloration on the lining only, this dress has been professionally hand spot cleaned and steamed. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year.
