John Galliano Cherry Print Silk Maxi Skirt F/W 2003

$2,700

John Galliano is notable for his zany designs. From mixing wild prints in unconventional ways to garments made out of sheer parody, Galliano undoubtedly maintains his position through his one-of-a-kind creativity and truly new aesthetics. His 2003 F/W collection channeled “urban glamour” using neon colors and exaggerated silhouettes. As seen as look #32 on that season’s runway, this fit-and-flare skirt is Galliano at his finest.

Done in black chiffon, the skirt features that collection’s iconic cherry print in shades of slate blue, green, soft yellow, light brown, and lipstick red. The skirt sits higher up on the waist and has magnificent draping at each side of the upper thigh that is reminiscent of a bustle skirt. The seaming and asymmetrical yoke warp the print ever so slightly giving it a visual movement of its own, while the bias cut and drape provide some stretch while creating an even more flattering silhouette.

Measurements:

Size estimate: Small

Waist: 26 inches

Hips: 36 inches can go to 38 as some stretch to the bias drape

Length: 47.5 inches

The skirt falls from the waist to maxi length at the ankles and is fitted from the hips to the knee before flaring out thereafter into a ruffled hem. This elegant and sensual skirt can easily be paired with a chiffon blouse and heels and is the perfect choice for a wedding, gala, or special occasion.

This John Galliano skirt is fully lined and closes with a concealed back zip. In excellent condition, this skirt has been professionally eco-dry cleaned and pressed. There is a bit of residue on the interior of the waistband that could not be removed. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
