1980s Halston Metallic Red Caftan Dress
Halston was one of the most influential American designers of the 20th century. His easy, yet elegant styles embodied the clean and unfettered look of the modern woman. This metallic red caftan, which was made after Halston’s design years, beautifully illustrates his prescient understanding of contemporary fashion. Foreseeing a future of unstructured tunics, Halston borrowed the silhouette of the caftan in the early 1970s.
Here it is reimagined in a candy apple red that lights up with metallic threads. A provocative deep v-neckline provides delightful contrast to the complete coverage offered by the rest of the garment. A partial silky red satin lines the upper bodice. Dropped ¾ sleeves taper at the wrists. A 26” deep front slit allows a shifting peek at great gams and knock-out shoes.
Measurements: Bust and Waist: up to 40 inches
Hips: up to 44 inches
Length: 58 inches
This 1980s era Halston dress is in excellent condition. Made from a red metallic weave, the caftan silhouette has a deep v-neck that is faced with red satin lining. Dropped shouldered sleeves extend to mid forearm with a slight taper. The floor length of the dress is broken by a center front slit of 26” high.
