Basha Gold
2008 Prada Fairy Runway Yellow Printed Silk Organza Skirt
Italian luxury brand Prada has made a mark with their refined styles and classic reinventions. However, the namesake designer Miuccia Prada is no stranger to considering creative twists. Stating that this collection was all about working from a “new inspiration”, Prada unlocks a mystical wonderland in her Spring 2008 Fairy Collection by employing curvilinear lines, delicate details, and fantastical yet demure tonal colors.
Done in a dense silk organza, this yoked skirt is designed with a mid-century essence in mind. It dons a geometric print in vibrant colors of yellow and apricot which are offset by specks of cadet blue. Gathered into the bask waist yoke and pleated eight times as it moves towards the hem, this skirt has an architectural volume. Despite the structure, this skirt nonetheless maintains a flirty, whimsical mood. This skirt is a shortened version of the tea-length skirt which can be seen as look number 35 on the 2008 Prada runway and featured in several editorial shots above.
Please note Prada sizing runs small, so refer to the measurements:
Size: 40
Measurements:
Waist: 28 inches
Hips: up to 42 inches
Length: 23.5 inches
Although unlined, this rigid skirt possesses a high degree of softness to the fabric. It fits promptly at the waist and falls approximately to knee level closing at the side with an invisible zip. It is in excellent condition and professionally cleaned and pressed. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
