Basha Gold
Chanel Black Oval Ruffle Hat Spring 2003
From humble beginnings, Coco Chanel defied all odds rising through the ranks to become one of the world's most recognized fashion designers. But before coining her signature Chanel jacket and no. 5 fragrance, Chanel was a self-taught milliner creating fresh and trendy hats for the modern active woman.
Throughout the years, the house of Chanel has revitalized these roots by offering stunning hat designs to complement their ensembles. This spring 2003 hat is made from a black straw. The hat features a domed crown and an oval brim that gives this hat an intriguing balance.
Around the crown, silk mesh has been attached in figure-eight ruffles adding an elegant drama to the hat. The vertical ruffles are held in place by a deep black velvet ribbon that boasts the CC logo in silver on the left side.
This timeless hat is sophisticated and spunky and certainly makes for a versatile finish to a casual or upscale outfit. This hat can be seen in the featured images as part of the 2003 campaign.
