Chanel Brown Leather Bomber Jacket Runway 1990s

$0

Chanel is known to keep to its roots. Alongside new, trendy styles, the house usually puts an emphasis on its timeless tweeds and silhouettes and rarely works in leather. However, the Fall 1991 collection explored a new side of Chanel that showcased edgier, sexier designs and eclectic styling of which Vogue described it as “deliberately provocative”.

From that collection, this chocolate Chanel bomber begins with a wide vintage collar that rolls gently into a rounded, drop-sleeve. The sleeves are done in a bishop style and finish in a dark brown ribbed cuff that matched the knit ribbing on the jacket hem. A soft volume, this jacket is stylish in its simplicity giving off the iconic boyish Chanel figure and allowing the rich leather to speak for itself.

Two angled flap pockets are on both side of the jacket closing with gold buttons with the interlock CC logo accenting the exposed gold metal zip running up centre front. The allure to Chanel is the houses timelessness. Though a vintage leather jacket, it can just as easily be casually paired with a pair of jeans and aviators for the modern day. It can be seen styled on the 1991 runway in the images above.
