Chloe Karl Lagerfeld Black Colorful Memphis Embroidered Jacket , 1980s

$0

Karl Lagerfeld notoriously was a designer with incredible range and balance. He was incredibly capable of keeping in his sights the traditions of the house of Chloe while still adding elements of his own life and perspective in the mix. After famously designing his Monte Carlo apartment in the Memphis aesthetic in 1981, elements of this art style trickled into ensuing Chloe collections.

This circa 1984 black wool gabardine swing coat has a relaxed fit and features multicolored embroidered shapes of yellow, green, red, orchid, and orange. The embroidery is placed rhythmically on one of the lapels and on the pockets and cuffs with topaz and citrine rhinestones.

The jacket has a velvet top-collar which adds an additional textural dimension. Exaggerated raglan sleeves and wide lapels give this jacket a playful yet certifiably 80s vibe. Fun and unique, this jacket can add an unexpected twist to an otherwise simple ensemble by adding interesting proportions and a pop of color.
