Basha Gold
Halston Metallic Gold Caftan dress, 1970s
Noteworthy American designer, Halton, is celebrated for his easy-elegance styles. His fluid bias cut drapes paired with intriguing fabrics trademark what has been called a “glam bohemian” style that boasts a certain sensual yet reserved feel. From the late-70s / early-80s, this Halston caftan is made from a gold lame fabric with a striped pattern.
A simple rounded neckline plunges just to the bust line at centre front recalling historic tunic designs. With a slight fit through the upper torso, the remainder of the caftan falls from bust level to create a shimmering sheath silhouette to the ankle. A center slit at the hemline compliments the V-neckline. Seen worn by designer, Rachel Zoe, on several occasions, this vintage Halston piece is an easy-to-wear glam look that can be styled for almost any occasion.
