Michel McNabb for Basha Gold Midnight Blue Bean Enamel Silver Chain Necklace
Michel McNabb is an artisan jewelry designer based in West Palm Beach, practicing masterful techniques and intricate, centuries old metallurgy processes. Inspired by nature, architecture, and the beauty of the world around her, this collection by Michel features the process of enameling and has been designed exclusively for Basha Gold. Using the age-old process of vitreous enameling, Michel utilizes a hydraulic press in order to mold the bean shape of the pendant. It is then layered with several thin layers of enamel that is fired up to fifteen times in order to create the deep midnight blue-black glossy sheen on both sides of the metal base.
With this particular design 18 karat gold leaf is fired with the enamel to create a band dividing the bean-shaped pendant asymmetrically. The gold accent livens the solemn blue to a classic color combination. The chain imitates this asymmetry. On one side of the oxidized sterling silver chain rectangular enameled pieces are joined together by small screws that allow for slight movement of the necklace with wear. Made of beautifully done enamel, copper, 18 karat gold leaf, and sterling silver, this necklace heralds an ancient artisanal quality that is beyond compare.
