Missoni Zig Zag Metallic Tapestry Leather Platform Heel Shoes, Size 38.5 / 8.5

$0

Newlyweds Ottavio and Rosita Missoni founded their Italian knitwear label in the Fifties, but it wasn’t until 1967, after Rosita had begun experimenting with a machine used to make shawls, that they created the zigzag motif it would become known for. “I like comparing color to music: only seven notes and yet innumerable melodies have been composed,” Ottavio once said. He wasn’t exaggerating. Missoni’s archive now houses more than 7,000 knitwear designs, including the one that graces this haute hippie platform sandal.

Combining pink, cranberry, green, black, tan and white yarns, it is an unexpected neutral that could be worn with so many things. The metallic gold leather finishes lend it a luxe look, as does the super flattering shape. The sole is beautifully carved and angled, while the top features straps that crisscross low on the foot, making legs look longer and thinner. Wear the wedges with a knee-length dress, mini or shorts to take the most advantage of what they offer, or tuck them beneath a maxi or flared trousers to embrace the added height they provide.

Measurements:

Insole: 10 inches

Platform front: 1.5 inches

Platform back: 6 inches

These Missoni platform sandals are in excellent condition. They feature the label’s signature zigzag knit on a wedge silhouette. The knit is created from yarns in shades of pink, cranberry, green, black, tan and white. The knit is complemented by gold metallic leather, which crosses over the toes and secures the ankle strap to the footbed.

The insole is also made of leather. The platform is beautifully carved to flatter the foot and leg; it is 1.5 inches high at the front and 6 inches high at the heel. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
