Nane French Couture Green Printed Silk Maxi Dress, 1970s
The 1970s marked an exciting era for the combination of craft, art, and couture. Bold colors and interesting geometric motifs defined the decade bringing forth a style that paid homage to tradition but was also modern and rebellious. This vintage couture maxi dress is done in a phenomenal Parisian green silk with a hand-painted geometric design incorporating tones of cadet blue, copper, hot pink, deep violet, and olive.
The bodice of the dress evokes a tailored kaftan or tunic style with long cuffed sleeves set promptly at the shoulder. In classic style, the dress is fitted by two French darts. From the waist, the dress flares out into a rather structured A-line showcases the expanse of the mystical green ending with a border print that mimics the top. Truly reflective of the old-tradition of couture, this dress boasts a large degree of hand detail and hand construction that is difficult to find today.
Size estimate: XS/S

The dress is fully lined and closes in the back with a centered zip (the dress does fully zip however is too small for the mannequin in the images). This dress is in good condition with the following issues that can be seen in the last several images: there is some fading at the underarm area, a tiny hole on the left arm just below the shoulder, and a watermark on the right-side bottom of the skirt.
During wear, this watermark is not noticeable due to the drape of the fabric.
