Proenza Schouler Green Turquoise Macrame Fringe Skirt, 2011
Recently founded in 2002, Proenza Schouler is a luxury women’s ready-to-wear and accessory brand based in NY. The unique name is a combination of the two head designers’, Jack McCullough’s and Lazaro Hernandez’, mother’s maiden names. With a modern, yet light-hearted aesthetic, Proenza Schouler merges vibrant colors, textures, and prints into striking silhouettes that are trendy and easy to wear. From the Fall 2011 collection, this skirt is created completely from macramé.
It is crafted from a chic combination of dark green, turquoise, and black yarns that form an art deco meets tribal design. The skirt fits on the hips and is straight in silhouette to the fringe bottom which allows for dashing movement. The variety of macramé techniques throughout add visual interest whilst creating several textural elements from top to hem. These design features make this skirt an excellent layering piece.
